About
As a research data analyst by training, I've used data and statistics to answer questions like, "How can we detect diseases earlier using brain scans?" and "What are some differences in brain structure that only show up if a person is ill?" These are findings that I am excited to share, but I found that a lot of my team's articles have gotten stuck behind paywalls, which is not what I want.
Publishing a a scientific research paper, while an important step, is only the beginning when it comes to sharing knowledge. There are additional steps to take to get research beyond the paywall to the public, and that's what I aim to share on this blog. While these resources are for informational purposes (I recommend checking official websites from organizations like the National Institutes of Health, research libraries, Authors Alliance and SPARC for the latest information), I hope to share my experience and provide a starting point for learning more. I'll share what I've learned on topics such as navigating the current publishing industry landscape and how to find journals that are both reputable and committed to making research accessible.
Whether you're a researcher or curious about this topic (or both), I hope you find these articles to be informative and empowering, and I wish you happy reading.
